J.M.I. RECORDINGS

THIS IS J.M.I. MUSIC

We make new recordings for vinyl LPs, EPs, singles and box sets using only analog technology.

J.M.I. Recordings was founded in 2016 by Steven Mandel and J Cohn in New York City.

Mandel is a music industry veteran who has produced and engineered records with/for Elvis Costello, The Roots, Todd Rundgren, Squeeze, Erykah Badu, Common and Roy Hargrove, to name a few. He’s been with both Jimmy Fallon late-night shows since their inception and has worked with the ubiquitous Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and The Roots for over 25 years. He cut his teeth at the famed Electric Lady Studios where he worked on such landmark albums as D’Angelo’s Voodoo, Common’s Like Water For Chocolate, Erykah Badu’s Mama’s Gun and Roy Hargrove’s The RH Factor among many others. Mandel co-produces every J.M.I. album with the artist/s.

Cohn is an attorney who previously co-owned Brown Brothers Recordings.

David Slitzky, a jack-of-all-trades in the music business, from musician to engineer to digital marketer and content developer, joined as a partner in 2017.

Every J.M.I. release is recorded, mixed, mastered and manufactured using only analog technology.
